Becoming a Professional Food Photographer with Bene Tan

WHO:

This food photography workshop is specially designed for photographers wanting to know and learn the inside out of the food photography business, lighting techniques, styling, composition, etc. Bene will personally guide you throughout the entire 3-day workshop.

DURATION:

Intensive 3 day of hands-on learning, Friday to Sunday starting from 9am to 6pm each day.

 

REQUIREMENT:

  • DSLR camera with a 50mm macro lens preferred. Camera & lens will be provided if you don’t own a DSLR camera and lenses.

  • Basic knowledge of Photography

  • Good working knowledge of your camera

 

FEE: S$1200.00 per person (Minimum 5 pax to start workshop)

 

Day 01

Introduction, which will cover the following:

 

  • Self Introduction and getting to know each other

  • Understanding Commercial Food Photography and the business

  • Understand the type of lens to use for food photography

  • Learn how to conceptualize and create a food story

  • Understand & working with the “Hero”

  • What is food and props styling

  • Self practice with guidance

  • Review and Critique session

 

Day 02

Food Photography using studio strobes, which will cover the following:

 

  • Understand the necessity & studio equipment to use

  • Exposure control (Aperture, Shutter Speed & ISO)

  • Understand white balance and how to custom white balance

  • Understand Light metering

  • Learn the different types of lighting set-up

  • Understand Lighting control

  • Lighting ratio to use

  • Self practice with guidance

  • Review & Critique session

 

Day 03

Food Photography using studio strobes continue, which will cover the following:

 

  • Explanation and set up of High Key images

  • Explanation and set up of Low Key images

  • Using of Filters and color gels

  • Using of accessories. Etc. Honeycomb, barn doors, snoot and spot.

  • Photo Editing & Workflow

  • Self practice with guidance

  • Review & Critique session

  • Learn the business of food photography and how to market yourself

 

NOTE: All food items, props and workshop materials will be provided. Full payment is due upon registration.
